Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how m3u8-player.com (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use m3u8-player.com. We provide a browser-based video player. You do not need an account, and the player does not upload your local videos or subtitle files.

1. Information stored on your device

When playback history is enabled, your browser stores up to 50 recent online videos, including their full URLs, titles, media formats, last-played times, favorites, playback positions and durations. Full URLs may contain access tokens or signed query parameters. History is shared between language versions on this website in the same browser; it is not synchronized to an account or another device.

Playback preferences, such as volume, speed, looping and the history setting, are also stored locally. The player library may separately remember volume. These records use browser local storage, not a server-side history database.

History remains until you delete it, clear this website’s browser data, your browser removes it, or older records fall outside the 50-entry limit. Preferences remain until you clear the website’s data. Turning off history stops new records but does not delete existing history, favorites or preferences.

2. Video links, local files and subtitles

When you play an online video, your browser contacts the video provider directly to retrieve the video, HLS playlists, segments, audio tracks, subtitles and any required media keys. The provider receives the requested URLs, your IP address and normal browser request information. Cookies or other authentication information may also be used according to your browser settings and that provider’s service. We do not proxy these requests through a video backend.

Files you choose or drop onto the page are processed in your browser. Local video and subtitle contents are not uploaded by the player and local videos are excluded from playback history. Temporary file references are released when you replace the source or close the page. Choosing a sample video connects to the sample’s external provider; it does not load automatically on arrival.

The player code does not send your entered video URLs, stored history, local files or subtitle contents to our server or into analytics events. Avoid using sensitive links on a shared device, and turn off history before playing a private or signed URL if you do not want it saved.

3. Website delivery and external services

  • Hosting and Cloudflare. Our hosting infrastructure and Cloudflare deliver and protect the website. They process connection and request data, which may include IP addresses, timestamps, requested page paths and query strings, browser details, response codes and security signals, for delivery, caching, reliability and abuse prevention. Security features may use necessary cookies.
  • Staticfile CDN. We load Font Awesome styles and icon fonts from cdn.staticfile.net. Your browser makes requests to this provider, which receives your IP address and normal request information.
  • Google Tag Manager. We load Google Tag Manager from Google to manage website tags. This connection sends request information, including your IP address and browser details, to Google. At the date of this policy, the published container has no analytics or advertising tags enabled. Enabling such services later requires this notice to be updated and any legally required consent to be obtained.
  • Video providers. A provider you choose controls its own media service and its handling of connection data. Its privacy policy applies to those requests.

For additional information, see Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy. External providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their applicable terms and safeguards govern their processing.

4. Purposes, retention and disclosure

We use the information needed to provide playback and your requested settings, deliver and secure the website, diagnose faults and respond to enquiries. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. Do not send private video links or sensitive files unless necessary to resolve your enquiry.

Local retention is described above. Enquiry messages and operational records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve the matter, investigate abuse, maintain security or satisfy applicable legal requirements, then deleted or anonymized. Independent providers determine retention for their own service data under their policies; clearing local history does not delete their logs.

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, necessary technical and support processing is based on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable, secure service. We use consent for optional tracking where the law requires it. We do not sell your playback history or local files. Information may be disclosed to providers as described above, or where required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse or security incidents.

5. Your controls and rights

  • Use the player’s Options to stop saving new history. Delete individual records or clear History to remove saved history, favorites and playback positions.
  • Clear site data for m3u8-player.com in your browser to remove history and stored preferences. Browser privacy settings also let you limit local storage and third-party requests, although some functions may stop working.
  • Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, obtain a copy of your data, withdraw consent where applicable, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify and respond to it.

We cannot remotely read or delete history that exists only in your browser. Use the controls above to remove it. Requests relating to an external video provider’s records should be directed to that provider.

6. Security, children and changes

We use reasonable measures to protect information we handle, but no network or browser storage is completely secure. Local records may be accessible to other people using your browser profile. The service is not designed to collect personal information from children; contact us if you believe a child has sent us such information.

We may update this policy when the service or its data practices change. The revision date above identifies the current version. Where required, material changes will be communicated before new processing begins.
